For more than a decade, CantaLyrica, a volunteer chamber chorus in the Northern New Jersey/New York City area, has brought to area audiences a rich variety of music written by composers ranging from the Renaissance to the present day.
The group's repertoire has included everything from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess to Bizet’s Carmen to Bach’s Singet dem Herrn to Brahms’s Liebeslieder Waltzes.
Music Director Joshua Greene is an assistant conductor at the New York Metropolitan Opera. He has prepared and conducted choruses, soloists and orchestras for many kinds of venues and has accompanied renowned singers in recital. He teaches voice, piano and conducting in his New York studio, where he coaches many Metropolitan and New York City Opera soloists.
PLEASE JOIN US for our final concert on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 7:30 pm at the West Side Presbyterian Church, located on Varian Fry Way, 6 South Monroe Street (corner of West Ridgewood Avenue), Ridgewood, NJ 07450 [ directions ]. The program, Opera à la Carte, features Joshua Greene, Conductor, with Mitchell Vines, Pianist. Maestro Greene will showcase a vivid selection of opera gems from Mozart’s Idomeneo, Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s Il Trovatore and Lehar’s Die Lustige Witwe. Soloists are Sara Murphy, soprano, Cristina Castaldi, soprano, Mary Hughes, mezzo-soprano, and Chee Shen Tan, tenor. The program is free and open to all, so please join us!
